Here it is…

So here it is…my first official blog.

I remember using old blogging websites when i was 14 and 15…all the talk about girls…what I want to do with my life.  Man…have the times changed.  My passions are still similar I suppose?  (not that anyone reading this read my previous blogs but for my own sake I’m going to compare…so get over it)  Thinking back about what I wanted out of life back then…it’s amazing to realize how much we mature in the span of 4 to 5 years.  I wanted to play football I’m sure.  Right now…in my life…I’m not playing football.  Not even doing anything athletic other than the occasional workout/racquetball/tennis…and I love it.  Music is definitely my passion. Theatre is definitely my passion.  It’s obvious.  God gave this to me and He’s wanting me to give my all for Him.  So I’m training to use both for His glory for the rest of my life.  Sometimes I lose sight of that and take the easy road by not working my hardest and such.  I feel like I almost wasted my freshman year as a music major.  Sure I made some amazing friends and I grew SO much closer to the Lord…but I mean…I did horrible in my theory classes…didn’t take other classes seriously and it ended up ruining my grade point average.  That’s what I get right?  I feel like I kept God too separate from my different parts of life.  I lead worship a lot and LOVE that…love it.  I love the feeling of God moving through me and music to bring people to His feet.  So of course God is a part of that.  Some things such as my other music lives…opera, musical theatre….writing music….going to coffeehouses.  Sometimes I try and use God sparingly in those areas.  God gave me a love and ability for all of these things.  So why not give back to Him?  Writing music…going to shows with friends…sometimes I forget that folk and indie music needs Jesus too.  I have a definite love for folk and indie but it seems that the Christians in that world are few and far between.  I look to people like Jon Foreman (one of my heroes as a songwriter) and he writes the most scriptural and challenging songs I’ve ever heard.  It’s amazing…he blows me away.  So why can’t I use that for Christ as well?  To challenge…to bring glory to God…that’s what He made us for.  Well…it’s not much of a post I guess?  That kind of gives you some insight to where I am…with school and everything.
